Location / Delegate Info

The island of Corfu, the largest of the Ionian Islands, is located in the northern Ionian Sea, at the entrance to the Adriatic, off the west coast of Albania and the Greek mainland. Corfu covers an area of 592 km2. The climate is mild without being bitterly cold in winter and summers are humid. Corfu, known to the ancient Greeks as Korkura, was named after Assopos river's daughter, the nymph Corkira. Possidon fell in love with Corkira and kidnapped her, taking her to Corfu island.

Corfu is an international travel and tourist center, which can satisfy even the most demanding visitor, with an amalgam of natural beauties, traditional features and archaeological sites. The island represents legends and incidents that stigmatized its history. The European influences are visible everywhere and harmoniously coexist, giving to the city a special character. No stamp of Asiatic occupation can be found on the island.

The visitor that will wander around the city of Corfu will have the chance to discover the 'dowry' that nature and man gave to Corfu. Corfu offers an escape into an exquisite serenity of natural beauty, and also interesting monuments of history and art, superb Venetian architecture, picturesque villages and a great cosmopolitan way of life. Here that Europe meets Greece and the nature ungrudgingly spread hundreds the shades of green and blue, the Corfiot Civilization developed with significant particularities that make him stand apart.

Corfu, the island of endless natural beauty, the island of song and music, of infinite inspiration, a combination of cosmopolitan and traditional, will fill the visitor with unforgettable memories, and make the visit to the island an unforgettable experience.
